Even though the sun is expected to reappear later today, Sunday and Labor Day, the coast may not be clear in Hurricane Earl’s wake.
Beach-goers and those near the ocean need to be especially wary of strong currents, swells and riptides that could linger until Monday, Lynette Miller of the Maine Emergency Management Agency said Friday.
“It will depend on the area. It may be a case by case basis,” Miller said. Anyone thinking about boating or going to a beach or park should check with officials or lifeguards for what precautions to take, she said.
Some beaches could have areas blocked off from swimming, she said.
