LEWISTON — Rev. E. Richard “Dick” Wrentzel, 82, a resident of Turner, went home to be with his Lord and Savoir on Monday, Sept. 6, after being a patient at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston for the past nine days.
He was born July 10, 1928, in Reading, Pa., the son of Luther and Estella (Frederick) Wrentzel. He graduated from Reading High School in 1947, the Kings College, Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., in 1956, and Conwell Theological Seminary in Wenham, Mass. in 1961. In June of 1957 he married Mary Grant of Folcroft, Pa. Together they spent their lives ministering to numerous churches, including Watertown Evangelical Church, Watertown, Mass., Austin Sq. Baptist Church, Lynn, Mass., Calvary Baptist, Ossining, N.Y., East Auburn Baptist Church, Auburn, and Leffingwell Baptist , Bozrah, Conn. After retirement, they moved back to Maine and had interim pastorates in North Livermore Baptist Church, Greene Baptist Church, Canton Baptist Church, and was Pastor of Visitation at Turner Village Church of Turner. He was a member of the Wayside Bible Baptist Church in Livermore. He also traveled as an evangelist on an eight-week tour with the Kings College. He was a devoted man to his faith, family and friends. He was an avid Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Wrentzel, of Turner; his son, Stephen Wrentzel of Auburn; and two grandchildren, Karen Wrentzel of the Forks, and Jeremy Wrentzel of Auburn; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Wrentzel, of Fla.; and brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Dorothy Noel of Lancaster, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Elaine, in 1997; two brothers, Jack and Stanley Wrentzel; and two sisters, Evelyn Ravel and Ruth Wrentzel.
