Local events to honor the ninth anniversary today of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks:

Lewiston: Police, fire and veterans groups will gather at L-A Harley-Davidson, 839 Main St., starting at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and a ceremony. A daylong motorcycle poker run and a surf-and-turf dinner at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post on Minot Avenue in Auburn are also planned.

Norway: Volunteers and veterans will hold a remembrance service at the Norway Legion Hall on Main Street beginning at 8:45 a.m.

Livermore Falls: The American Legion will hold a remembrance service in Union Park, Main Street, beginning at 10 a.m.

Lewiston: On Sunday the annual Blue Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Ash Street. Bishop Richard J. Malone will bestow his blessings upon those who contribute to the public health and safety in the state of Maine. The annual event takes place on the weekend closest to Sept. 11.
