Class lunch

MEXICO — Members of the Stephens High School Class of 1954 will hold their monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the Covered Wagon.

Members and guests are welcome.

Society meeting

SOUTH PARIS — The Paris Cape Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at 77 High St. After a brief business meeting, Jeff Parsons will speak on 1816, the “year without a summer.”

Refreshments will be served following the meeting. The public is welcome to attend and invited to visit the museum from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays. The building is handicapped accessible.

Parsons has also compiled a narrative about life on the Parsons farm in South Paris. Several copies of the book are available in the society’s bookstore, along with other items of interest.

Public meal

WILTON — The Wilton Lodge 156, Maine Lodge 20, Jepthah Council 17, Franklin Chapter 34 and Pilgrim Commandery 19 will host a public meal from 5 to 6:30 p.m.  Saturday, Sept. 18, in the Harland Harnden Masonic Lodge Building, 70 Bryant Road, East Wilton.

A barbecue chicken dinner with potato salad, baked beans, rolls and blueberry cake with lemon sauce will be served. The cost will be $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. All proceeds will benefit the Building Fund. For more information, contact Robert Lawrence at 778-2354.

Location change

FARMINGTON —  The Western Maine Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 15, in the Lincoln Auditorium in the Roberts Learning Center, University of Maine at Farmington.

Ben Godsoe will present a program on the Fly Rod Crosby Trail, which runs from Strong to Oquossoc along the Sandy River Valley.

Girl scouts events

HIRAM — Girl Scouts of Maine will host two “All Out for Girl Scouts” events during September.

One will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at South Hiram Elementary School. The second will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Hosmer Field Complex in Rumford

Girls and adults are invited to attend the event to find out about the ways today’s girls are participating in Girl Scouting. Girls will have an opportunity to sample some activities and adults will also learn about becoming a Girl Scout volunteer.
