FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) — Two men have pleaded not guilty to charges related to the death of a 57-year-old state highway worker struck by a pickup truck in Framingham.

Gregory Vilidnitsky was working on a repaving project on Route 9 Tuesday night.

Prosecutors say 29-year-old Jeremy Gardner of Bridgton, Maine, was driving the truck when it struck the worker. A Framingham District Court Judge ordered Gardner held on $100,000 bail Wednesday on charges including drunken driving, motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of a crash.

Prosecutors say 49-year-old Walter Smith of Barre, Vt., tried to move the truck after the crash. Smith was ordered held on $50,000 bail on a drunken driving charge.

Gardner’s lawyer said there’s a question as to who was driving at the time of the crash.
