PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton is coming to Maine later this month to campaign for Democratic candidates in advance of the Nov. 2 election.
The Portland Press Herald says Clinton will campaign in South Portland on Sept. 26. The rally will be free and billed as a Maine Democratic Party event.
Clinton’s plan to visit comes as Democrat Libby Mitchell is shown trailing in polls behind Republican Paul LePage in the five-way race for Maine governor. Clinton endorsed Mitchell in the four-way Democratic primary.
Mitchell campaigned for Hilary Clinton while she was running for president in 2008.
