LIVERMORE FALLS — Katherine Ventrella turned in a hat trick and Samantha Greenwood added another goal as Livermore Falls rolled over Hall-Dale, 4-0, in a field hockey game Wednesday.
The undefeated Andies (5-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead by halftime and topped off their victory with two more goals in the second half.
Kim Theriault had two assists and Megan Therrien and Erin Gats were credited with an assist. Goalie Caylee Morris had a light afternoon in net and did not have to make a save.
Freeport 6, Poland 0
POLAND — Freeport capitalized on 18 corners, scoring three times, en route to a 6-0 shutout over Poland in WMC field hockey action Wednesday.
Katie Turner scored a goal in each half for the Falcons (3-2). Mia Thomas, Kayla Thurlow, Kayley Johnson and Abby Mahoney rounded out the scoring for Freeport.
Goalie Melora Lavoie made 13 saves for the Knights (0-5), while Emily Daniel only had to prevent one to earn the win in net for Freeport.
Jay 4, St. Dom’s 0
JAY — Sophomore wing Rachel Calden netted the first and third goals of the game to lead jay to a 4-0 blanking over St. Dom’s in WMC field hockey action Wednesday.
The Tigers (3-2) opened up a 3-0 halftime lead, and the defense held strong in the second half.
Goalie Jenna Fongimie made five saves, while Marisa Zamrock turned back 11 in a combined effort for the Saints. Goalie Ashlee Quirrion recorded the win with two saves for Jay.
Boothbay 2, Dirigo 1 (OT)
DIXFIELD — Sarah Caron went one-on-one with Dirigo’s keeper and found the net with 5:34 left in overtime to lift Boothbay to a 2-1 victory in MVC field hockey action.
Jessica Murray also tallied for the Seagulls (2-2-1) to complete the scoring. The two squads were deadlocked at 1-1 going into the second frame. The Cougars (1-4) received their lone goal from Sam Blanchette, with an assist by Colette McKeen.
Madison McCarthy made eight saves for Boothbay, while Betsy Noyes turned back eight shots in the cage for Dirigo.
Mountain Valley 4, Lisbon 2
RUMFORD — Nicole Burgess netted a pair of first-half goals as Mountain Valley pulled off a 4-2 victory over Lisbon in MVC field hockey action Wednesday.
The Falcons (3-2) jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first frame, then answered Lisbon’s two-goal rally with two more of their own. Ayla Allen and Whitney Ruff also tallied to complete the scoring.
Bayley Cutler and Angel Strout each scored a goal for the Greyhounds. Emily Gallant made 20 saves for the Falcons, while Hayley Jamison turned back seven shots in the cage for Lisbon.
Girls’ soccer
Camden Hills 2, Leavitt 1
TURNER — Jackay Richards scored the game-clinching goal to lift Camden Hills to a 2-1 victory over Leavitt in KVAC girls’ soccer action Wednesday.
Kristina Alex scored the initial goal of the game for the Windjammers (5-0). But, Tori Zupancic tied things up with 19:29 left in regulation for the Hornets (4-1).
Richards responded four minutes later to put Camden Hills up for good.
Goalie Kelly Pomerleau made four saves for Leavitt, while Lindsay Bumbalo repelled 11 shots to earn the win in net for Camden Hills.
