AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer a course on workplace mentoring from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, Oct. 5 through 19. The cost is $175 and includes materials.

Participants will learn how to transform “helpfulness” into a competitive advantage by developing an effective workplace mentoring program. Participants will listen, interact and practice to learn the six building blocks of a workplace mentoring model, how to use the building blocks to tailor a simple plan they can replicate in-house and practice giving and receiving mentoring.

With the tools learned in the course, owners, executives, managers, supervisors and human resources professionals can uniquely install a culture of mutual learning.

The course will be facilitated by Susan deGrandpre. She has a master’s degree in education from the University of Southern Maine and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of Massachusetts. She has been adjunct faculty at St. Joseph’s College and Southern Maine Community College.

The deadline to register for the program is Sept. 28. For more information or to register, contact the Corporate and Community Services Department at 755-5280 or 800-891-2002, ext. 280, e-mail [email protected] or visit www.cmcc.edu/training.
