FARMINGTON — Three art classes will be offered by Barbara Hathaway at Mt. Blue RSD Adult and Community Education this fall.

“All About Watercolor” will begin Tuesday, Oct. 5, and will help the student learn how watercolor shows the beauty of the palette as watercolor washes are applied. Sky, sunsets and reflections will begin a scene then mountains and trees will fill the middle ground in creating a landscape. Still life, flowers and other items can be considered for compositions.

“Illustrating Children’s Books” will start Wednesday, Oct. 6, and will help students complete a layout of their ideas for a children’s book including illustrations showing characters, setting and some of the events. A replica of the book will be completed to present to a printer to show how the book should look when printed. The process will also work for those who may want to do an illustrated journal, recipe book or book of poetry.

“Creative Pastels” will begin Thursday, Oct. 7, and students will learn the process of creating vibrant landscapes, water, sky, flowers and textures, by capturing light and color. A range of styles will be covered with step-by-step instructions to help the student feel comfortable with each technique. Invisible pastels will be used for special effect.

All classes are for beginners to semi-professionals. For more information or to register, contact the Adult Education office at 778-3460 or Hathaway at [email protected] or 645-3449.
