AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — New finance reports filed with the state show that the five candidates for Maine governor have passed the $3 million mark in spending for their campaigns.
Reports show strong fundraising by Republican Paul LePage, who collected nearly $400,000 between mid-July and mid-September, and independent Eliot Cutler, whose campaign took in nearly $160,000.
LePage has spent just over $400,000, Cutler $1.2 million. Democratic candidate Libby Mitchell, who’s receiving public funding, reports spending $1 million on her campaign so far.
Adding in $382,000 spent by independent Shawn Moody and nearly $17,000 by independent Kevin Scott, the total spent by all five comes to $3 million.
Reports show front-runner LePage with nearly $534,000 cash on hand, Mitchell with $583,000 and Cutler with $121,500.
