PHILLIPS — Selectmen will continue discussion on Tuesday, Oct. 5, on different types of management and what would work best for the town.

Selectmen were approached by some citizens who want to do away with the town-manager type of governance, interim Town Manager Elaine Hubbard said.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the town office.

The town currently has a town meeting, town manager, selectmen government. Another option is a town meeting and selectmen form of governance with an administrative assistant to help selectmen out, Hubbard said.

The difference is in the latter form all the power, duties and responsibilities shift to the select board, she said.

In a town with a manager the person filling that role has some authority to operate the town on a daily basis, in addition to being responsible for personnel and financial duties, Hubbard said.
