AUBURN — Auburn Adult and Community Education has announced class offerings for October.

GED classes are open for drop-in registration from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Applications are also being accepted for the next Certified Nurses Assistant class.

Certified Nurses Assistant – Medical will begin Monday, Oct. 18. Students must be currently on the CNA board and have worked as a CNA for at least one year.

Microsoft Word 2007 Intermediate will begin Tuesday, Oct. 12, for three weeks. Participants will learn to create more sophisticated publications, how to use graphics, create a simple Web page and add graphics.

Software on a Zero Budget will start Tuesday, Oct. 12, for three weeks. Students will learn about all types of open source software to download, install and use. At home computer with Internet access is required.

Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 will start Wednesday, Oct. 20, for three weeks. Attendees will learn to use the presentation program to combine with other Microsoft Office programs, Microsoft Office 2007 PowerPoint presentation system.

Baby-sitter Training, for children ages 11 to 15, will begin Thursday, Oct. 7, for six weeks. Students will learn how to prevent accidents, what to do in an emergency and how important they can be in the life of a child. Course includes CPR training and certification.

Exploring Other Lives will be on Monday, Oct. 18. The class will utilize guided meditations and hemi-sync frequencies to take students on a journey to remembering their other significant incarnations at three different points in another life.

German New Medicine will meet on Thursday, Oct. 14. The class will present an overview of an entirely different medical model, different from Western medicine and different from alternative medicine.

Ghosthunting 101 will begin Thursday, Oct. 7, for eight weeks, presented by Central Maine Paranormal Investigations. The course will provide training in the basics of ghosthunting and the paranormal.

Greek Dancing for Families will start Monday, Oct. 18, for six weeks. Students do not need a partner because everyone dances together in a circle. During that time, they will learn the steps of the most popular traditional Greek dances along with some Greek traditions.

Greek Holiday Cooking will begin Thursday, Oct. 14, for three weeks. Students will learn to make baklava, spanakopitakia, tyropitakia, taramosalata, christopsomo, melomakarouna and vasilopita. Students can sign up for any number of classes.

Hormone Rejuvenation for Women will be on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Based on traditional Chinese medicine and German homeopathy, instead of replacing hormones that are low, the body can learn to produce all the hormones needed.

Introduction to Home Electricity will begin Tuesday, Oct. 12, for three weeks. Students will learn how their home electrical system works, how to troubleshoot a circuit and repair an outlet, switch or light, and the principles behind GFIs, wire sizing, circuit breakers and low voltage systems.

Lifeline Screening will be on Friday, Oct. 8. Five screenings will be offered that scan potential health problems related to: blocked arteries, abdominal aortic aneurysms, hardening of the arteries in the legs, atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat and a bone density screening, for men and women.

Maine Driving Dynamics will meet Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 5 and 6. The five-hour course will offer all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. Those completing the course will receive a certificate and a three-point credit on their driving record.

Manifesting Made Easy will be Monday, Oct. 4. Participants will learn to attract what they most desire and enhance their ability to manifest positive elements in their life.

Pottery – Come Play With Clay will begin Tuesday, Oct. 26, for seven weeks. It is an adult only class, and students will create finished clay pieces experimenting with basic hand-building techniques as well as throwing pottery on the wheel.

Reiki II will meet Thursday, Oct. 28. Participants will learn additional symbols, in absentia healing and will receive a second attunement increasing the ability to channel energy.

Seamanship will begin Tuesday, Oct. 5, for 10 weeks. Seamanship covers basic deck seamanship, marlinspike, anchoring and rafting, basic boat care and maintenance and nautical and USPS customs and etiquette.

Visits From Loved Ones will meet Monday Oct. 25. Utilizing hemi-sync frequencies and verbally guided meditations, students will transport beyond space and time into the presence of those who love and understand them.

West Coast Swing II: Beyond Basic will begin Tuesday, Oct. 26, for six weeks. Students will learn new patterns and variations on the basics to take their dancing to the next level.

Whole Cultured Food for Health will meet Monday, Oct. 4. The hands-on class will teach students to properly prepare whole food cuisine along with probiotic-rich foods such as kefir, yogurt, fermented soft drinks, cultured vegetables and more.

Women’s Self Defense will begin Tuesday, Oct. 19, for six weeks. Women will learn how to defend from both stand up and ground attacks as well as how to recognize a potential threat.
