LEWISTON — A fundraiser to benefit the family of Colby and Paige Nadeau will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Elks Lodge.
Colby and Paige both have Doose Syndrome, a serious form of epilepsy. Colby is 5 years old and was diagnosed in October of 2008. His sister, Paige, is 3 years old and was diagnosed in November of last year. Colby is on medication, and both he and Paige are on the ketogenic diet to control seizures. The diet uses very specific foods that are expensive.
Their mother, Amy, took a year-long leave of absence from her teaching position to care for her family. She has recently returned to work, making in-home assistance a necessity.
The Not For Hire band will play during the event and there will be a silent auction, raffles and a 50/50.
The Nadeau family will use proceeds from the fundraiser to help with medical expenses, in-home assistance, food and towards the potential purchase of medical monitoring equipment.
