Bath Dodgers knocked off the top two seeds in the playoffs to claim the men’s senior 45 baseball league championship.
Bath defeated the top-ranked Cardinals, 18-3, at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach. Brian Stowell was the winning pitcher, with Bill Barron closing it out in relief. Leading hitters were Dan Simpson, Randy Cjhick and Ralph Eugley.
Stowell nabbed the win while Chick and Lou Morin closed the door on a thrilling 9-8 victory over the No. 2 Bath Braves at Hadlock Field in Portland. Morin struck out the final batter of the game. Simpson (three hist), Ed Connors and Morin were leading hitters.
Gary Chapman made outstanding defensive plays throughout the tournament.
