FRYEBURG — Hot country band Gloriana, which came away with the Top New Vocal Group award at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards, will headline a week of entertainment at the 160th Fryeburg Fair.

The Nashville band, 2009’s Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards, will appear on the big stage Wednesday night of fair week, Sunday, Oct. 3, to Oct. 10.

Founded in 2008, Gloriana is composed of brothers Tom and Mike Gossin, vocals and guitar; Rachel Reinert, vocals and tambourine; and Cheyenne Kimball, vocals and mandolin. Gloriana released its debut single, “Wild at Heart,” in February 2009, which has become a Top 15 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Also performing on the big stage will be Nate Gibson on Monday night; Steel Magnolia, Tuesday; Vocal Trash, Thursday; Tyler Dickerson, Friday (followed by fireworks); and Tennessee River, Saturday.

The eight-day Blue Ribbon Classic features six nights of free entertainment in front of the main grandstand, starting at 8 p.m. There is no charge for the night shows once inside the fairgrounds. In addition, live music will be performed daily at each of the fair’s five parks along with a variety of strolling entertainers.

Breau, Rowe and others

Daily entertainment will range from magicians and country-western bands to cloggers and strolling musicians. Among the entertainers throughout the week will be Denny Breau, the Half Moon Jug Band, Rick Adam and his One Man Band, the Dave Rowe Trio, the Dick Kaplan Band and the Blue Hill Brass Quintet.

County music duo Steel Magnolia was nominated for two ACM awards: Top Vocal Duo of the Year and Top New Vocal Duo of the Year. Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones won Season Two of the CMT talent show “Can You Duet” in 2009. Recently, Steel Magnolia’s new single “Just By Being You,” leapt into the Top 30 spot on both the Billboard Top Country Songs chart and USA Today/Country Aircheck chart. The song followed up the duo’s history-making debut with “Keep On Lovin’ You.”

Vocal Trash will turn recycling into a raucous, energizing stage show while on its nationwide tour. The banging and thrashing Texas-based ensemble is made up of five performers and musicians headed by Kelsey Rae and Steve Linder. Vocal Trash, which can be heard on its own website, has produced 12 CDs and six DVDs over the last decade. The band uses only recycled material on stage, including a gas can guitar and a milk urn bass. It will perform such original songs as “Car Wash,” “Stray Cat Strut” and “Bang On A Can.”

Sixteen-year-old country singer Tyler Dickerson is currently touring with Brooks & Dunn’s “Last Rodeo Tour.” A native of Columbia, Miss., Dickerson began recording in late 2008, producing a five-song album.

Alabama tribute band Tennessee River will close out the night-show presentations. Formed in 2002, the seven-part vocal group with trademark harmonies will perform songs by one of the century’s top country bands. Alabama has produced more than 40 No. 1 hits.
