NORWAY — On Friday, Oct. 1, an opening will be held for Harrison poet Lisa Moore’s show, “Closet,” a combination of poetry, clothing and collected art, at Fare Share Commons.
“Closet” is the fifth in Moore’s series of self-published collections, following “Queen Ann in Winter,” “Women of Steam,” “Murmurs” and “Smoke.” Each book has the same unique shape and contains about the same number of poems written over five-year spans.
Moore will read 21 poems beginning at 7:30 p.m. The opening will run from 7 to 9 p.m. The reading will last about 40 minutes.
“These poems and images are about what we keep in our closets (sometimes hidden), what we value enough to hold onto,” Moore said. A limited edition of the book will be published in October and be available on Nov. 5, for the First Friday openings, when Moore plans to do a second reading.
“Yes, it’s unusual for a poet to offer an art show, but my membership in the Commons Art Collective allows me to rub elbows with some amazing visual artists,” Moore said. “Their influence on my work is profound and this show celebrates that intersection.”
Admission is free. Fare Share Commons is at 455 Main St.
