WILTON — Wilton police searched Wednesday for a vehicle they tried to stop the previous night.
A caller at Rick’s Market alerted Wilton police Tuesday night after observing four customers who appeared intoxicated, Lt. E. Page Reynolds said.
When police got there, the four got into a vehicle and as the officer attempted to stop them, “they punched the car into reverse almost hitting the cruiser,” he said.
Police followed the car up Burgess Hill but then lost sight of it. Jay police and officers from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department were called to assist in trying to track the vehicle at about 8:30 p.m., he said.
Police do have a partial plate number and are continuing to investigate, he said.
