FARMINGTON — October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and staff at the Franklin County Animal Shelter said that Shadow is the perfect pooch to start off with.
Shadow is about 5 years old and seems to do well with kids, cats and other dogs. He has been getting better on lead although he does pull a bit, they said. He knows his basic commands of sit, lay and off. They said he is a gentle man that just needs a home to call his own and love.
In honor of National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, the shelter will offer “Woof of Fortune” and anyone adopting a dog will have a chance to spin the wheel to take some money off the adoption fee or receive a Treasure Bag. Treasure Bags are also for sale at the shelter.
New dogs at the shelter include a beagle from Starks, a hound/lab mix from New Sharon, a rotti mix from New Sharon and a black lab from New Sharon.
A Haunted Barn fundraiser for the shelter will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 22 and 23, at Knowlton Corner Farm, 341 Knowlton Corner Road. Cost for adults is $6; children 4 to 10, $3; ages 3 and under, free. Call 778-6520 for more information.
