LEWISTON — Out of the Box Theater Company, Lewiston’s newest theater company, barely 2-years-old, has recently been notified by the New England Theatre Conference that it has won the Moss Hart Memorial Award for Community Theater for 2010 for its production of “Death of a Salesman,” performed in August at DownStage at L/A Arts.
This is the second year that the theater company has been selected for the award, achieving it in 2009 for its production of “Medea.”
Arthur Miller’s Pulitzer Prize-winning dark tragedy of Willy Loman and his dysfunctional family was directed by Linda Britt, founding member of Out of the Box Theater Company. Britt also directed the “Medea” production.
She will direct another classic, “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, in February at Community Little Theatre and directed “The Laramie Project” and “Proof,” also at CLT, a few seasons ago.
Also a playwright, as well as director and actress, her original “Mrs. Smith Goes to Washington” enjoyed sold out performances last February at DownStage at L/A Arts. It is now on the road traveling to several venues.
