A big husking bee was held Saturday night at the home of Mrs. Nellie Davis and her sons. The Davis brothers raised a large piece of yellow corn this year, and on Saturday night invited in about 75 people to assist them in husking it.

The scene in the barn was a merry one, where midst much fun, basket after basket of corn was husked. The husks flew thick and fast until about 250 bushels were stripped, then all were invited into the house.

In the dining room and large kitchen a fine supper was served.

The public sale of about 180 used refrigerators and stoves by the Lewiston Housing Authority is drawing mixed reactions from area appliance dealers, several expressing concern that the sudden jump in the number available could hurt local business.

But the LHA officials defended the sale, saying the appliance dealers are only complaining about not being allowed to buy all of the surplus property for resale at a higher price to customers. Buyers were limited to no more than five units.
