LEWISTON — The Abused Women’s Advocacy Project and Lewiston Police Department’s Community Resource Officers will team up to offer a domestic violence training from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at the B Street Center, 57 Birch St. The workshop will be held in the main conference room on the first floor. Attendees are encouraged to come with questions.

The training is open to the public and will cover how to safely respond to domestic violence in the community. Attendees will learn about safety planning and have the opportunity to learn about domestic violence from a law enforcement perspective.

The training will be hosted by AWAP’s Androscoggin Community Educator Victoria Williams and Lewiston Police Department Officer Tom Murphy.

The Community Resource Officer Program is a collection of officers who work collaboratively with community groups like AWAP to identify and respond to anything that would be considered a quality of life issue.

AWAP provides services to women, children and men experiencing domestic violence in Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties. In addition to providing advocacy and emergency shelter, AWAP offers educational opportunities for a variety of audiences, including employers, schools and other community groups.
