FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Children’s Task Force will provide a Mandated Reporter Training for area child care providers, teachers and law enforcement personnel, medical providers and anyone else who works with children on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

The training will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the University of Maine at Farmington in the North Dining Hall off South Street. The class is offered to anyone who works with children, with the goal being to familiarize participants with their legal mandate for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect, as well as providing information to increase their recognition and response to child abuse and neglect.

The objectives include knowing and understanding the roles and responsibilities of mandated reporters under Maine Law, recognizing possible behavioral indicators of child abuse, knowing how to make a report of suspected child abuse and neglect and to develop an understanding of the complexity of responding to child abuse and neglect by learning of possible outcomes when abuse/neglect is found by DHHS.

The cost for the class is $10 each participant and registration is required. To register, call 778-6960.
