PORTLAND (AP) — A Maine truck driver has pleaded not guilty on charges stemming from a crash that killed a high school student who was headed to the prom.

The Portland Press Herald reports 37-year-old Nathan Allen of Casco pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault and reckless conduct stemming from the May 8 crash that killed 18-year-old Steven Delano.

Delano, a senior at Scarborough High School, was one of four passengers in a car that was hit by an empty jet fuel truck driven by Allen as they were headed to the prom at Gorham High School.

The three other passengers were injured, one critically.
