SABATTUS —  Leona Lebrun, 77, of Webster Corner Road, Sabattus, died Sunday, Oct. 17, at her home following a long illness.

She was born in Madawaska on Feb. 27, 1933, the daughter of Patrick and Emilia (Clavette) Caron. She attended local schools and received her bachelors degree at Hudson College.

She owned and operated several small businesses in this area for many years. Following her retirement, she started quilting and became a quilting instructor. She made quilts for many different charities and also made pillow cases for many cancer patients. She also loved to travel.

Leona was a member of Windham Christian Life Center Church and was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

She married Bertrand Lebrun in September of 1950. He died on July 8, 2002.

She is survived by her daughters, Terry Mathieu and husband, Dan, of Monroe, N.C., and Nancy Theriault and husband, Gaetan, of Sabattus; her grandchildren, Yvonne Enea, Rita Torres, Chantal Edgecomb, Mark Theriault and Joshua Theriault; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Norman and wife, Judy, of Florida and Lionel Caron and wife, Diane, of New Jersey.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Chanel Caron.
