AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — New campaign spending reports show Democratic congressional incumbents in Maine to be far ahead in fundraising.
Reports covering campaign finances through the end of September show U.S. Reps. Chellie Pingree and Mike Michaud with well over twice as much money raised as their Republican challengers in Maine’s 1st and 2nd congressional districts.
Reports to the Federal Election Commission show Pingree with nearly $947,000 in contributions, compared to $350,000 for challenger Dean Scontras.
In the 2nd District, Michaud reports $923,000 compared to Jason Levesque’s $409,000.
The Democratic candidates also report much larger cash reserves for the remainder of the campaign.
