FARMINGTON — In honor of breast cancer awareness initiatives and ongoing clinical support for the treatment of breast cancer at Franklin Community Health Network, a raised bed of 170 pink and purple tulips will be planted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, on the Franklin Memorial Hospital campus.

The colors symbolize pink as the color for breast cancer awareness, while purple is the color used for the Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center. When in bloom in the spring, the tulips will appear as a large, mostly pink, looped ribbon – the official symbol for breast cancer awareness – with a small amount of purple at each end.

Anyone is welcome to help plant the garden and join representatives from Franklin Community Health Network, Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center, Franklin Memorial Hospital, Franklin Health Surgery, Healthy Community Coalition and the community-at-large who have all committed to help plant bulbs.

No tools are necessary for volunteer gardeners. Volunteers should report to the garden plot, located to the left of the Franklin Memorial Hospital main entrance.
