DIXFIELD — The wind energy company that wants to construct up to 13 industrial turbines has scheduled a public informational session Oct. 28.
Town Manager Eugene Skibitsky said the time and place have not been announced. He said representatives from Patriot Renewables LLC, Quincy, Mass., will be available to answer questions and provide more detailed information on the project proposed for the Colonel Holman Mountain ridgeline.
The event is the latest in a series of meetings, hearings and forums on the project.
Selectmen held a Wind Ordinance public hearing last week on the document residents will act on during the Nov. 2 general election. Skibitsky said few people turned out. Among the components of the proposed ordinance is a minimum setback from turbines of 4,000 feet from occupied residences, and decibel levels of 45 at night and 55 during the day, which are the state-approved sound levels.
A related public hearing is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 20 in Ludden Memorial Library, on proposed amendments to the town’s Comprehensive Plan. Those proposed amendments would be aligned with the proposed wind ordinance.
One public hearing on the Comprehensive Plan amendments was held earlier in the month. Few people attended.
Both the proposed ordinance and the amendments will be voted on next month, along with a third wind-related question that virtually seeks to ban wind development in the town.
