FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue High School Curtain Raisers Improv Comedy Group, students who love making people laugh, will present “The Candy Corn Conspiracy” on Thursday, Oct. 28,
The Curtain Raisers play games such as the growing and shrinking “Anna Nicole Smith,” the sprawling “Big John” and the charades-on-steroids laden “Excuses.” Improvisational games involve a structure, but everything after that comes from the minds of the performers and suggestions from the audience.
This year’s group has a returning cast of Alex Allen, Laurel Fraley, Jessica Baxter, Josh Hiltz, John Evans, Morgan Spencer and Kat Goding. Other members are sophomores Carolyn Poliquin, Calan Lucas and Abby Lochala; and freshmen Noah LePage, Astra Pierson, Eli Cohen and Alex Pane. Senior Curtain Raisers tech Kaz Seaward makes everything work from behind the scenes.
The Curtain Raisers put on monthly shows with Dan Ryder as director. “This year marks the largest influx of new talent since the group’s beginnings,” said Ryder. “This means great things for our audience and for the troupe. The veteran members are already shaping the new crew’s energy into something that can best be described as ‘absurdly awesome.’ ”
“The Candy Corn Conspiracy” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. Admission is $3. For for information, contact Ryder at 778-3561or [email protected].
