JAY — Members of the Daughters of Isabella Circle 677 from St. Rose of Lima held their monthly business meeting on Oct. 13. The meeting was called to order by Regent Laurie Gagnepain.
Chancellor Laurianne Castonguay led the group into the recitation of the rosary. The Opening Ode was sang and the group said the Pledge of Allegiance. The Daughters held a short form conferral for Olive Couture, Cindy Gilpatrick, Linda O’Brien and Corrine Rhea. A long form conferral will be held at a later date.
Recording Secretary Louise Chandler read the minutes from the September business meeting. There was one thank you card received from the family of Christine Harlow. Applications for membership were received from Olive Couture, Cindy Gilpatrick, Linda O’Brien and Corrine Rhea.
The scribe, Kim Couture, told the group what she had put in the newspaper about the September meeting and about the September social and Shirley Couture spoke about the theme baskets the Daughters put together that were raffled at the fall bazaar.
Shirley Couture also spoke about starting the theme baskets for next year. They also spoke about getting some bigger prizes and more items that are men-related. The Daughters spoke about how well the fall bazaar went.
Unfinished business was talked about next and the membership blitz will be Sunday, Nov. 7, after both Masses at St. Joseph’s in Farmington and at St. Rose in Jay.
Rita Crowley talked about the Living Rosary that was held Oct. 17 at St. Rose. The anointing of the sick will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at St. Rose, with a dinner to follow at the parish hall.
A Mass for deceased members of the Daughters, Circle 677, will take place at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov.12. Annette Melson asked if anyone was interested in helping her with the newsletters.
The Daughters received a donation from an anonymous person. Vice Regent Denise Rodzen talked about the Christmas party, which will be held Wednesday, Dec. 1. The location has not been decided yet.
