PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (AP) — The union representing 150 Maine nurses at the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle have reached a contract agreement with administrators.

The local unit of the Maine State Nurses Association had been pushing the hospital to agree to increased staffing levels.

The unionized nurses voted last week to ratify the two-year contract.

The medical center board is expected to meet Wednesday to vote on the proposal.

The Bangor Daily News says the tentative agreement allows for increased staffing in the emergency department. Other details of the contract haven’t been released.

The two sides had been negotiating since June.
