MEXICO — The following incidents were handled by the Mexico police Department.

Theft

A Highland Terrace resident reported at 9:54 a.m., Oct. 17, that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and a debit card. Police said the incident may be related to a recent spate of burglaries and thefts in the area.

Vandalism

A Granite Street resident reported at 12:30 p.m., Oct. 17, that someone broke a window on his porch, causing $150 damage. The incident is believed to have occurred between Oct. 15 and Oct. 17. Police have collected blood samples from the broken glass.

Accidents

Michael Coulombe, 49, of Dickvale Road, Peru, struck a deer at 6:49 p.m., Oct. 14, as he was driving east on Route 2 near Naples Packing Co. His sports utility vehicle was not damaged. The deer was killed.

Vehicles driven by Jacqueline M. Corriveau, 51, of Osgood Avenue, Mexico, and Christopher P. Froehly, 20, of Flowering Tree Lane, Gambrills, Md., collided at 9:46 a.m., Oct. 11, on Main Street. Corriveau’s 2009 four-door sedan sustained $2,500 damage. Froehly’s 2008 Dodge pickup truck sustained $500 damage.

William E. Cochran, 38, of Meadow Street, Mexico, apparently lost control of his 1990 Buick four-door sedan at 8:04 a.m., Oct. 10, as he was driving north on Route 17. The vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, struck a mailbox, and continued onto the inside of the guardrail. The vehicle then rolled onto its roof. Cochran’s vehicle sustained $1,800 damage. The guardrails sustained about $2,000 damage.

Eric L. Hamann, 24, of Gammon Road, Peru, was charged with failure to report an accident by the fastest means possible, following an accident on Oct. 7 at which time Hamann struck a utility pole, then fled the scene on the Roxbury Road. The 2002 Ford two-door sustained $8,000 damage. Hamann turned himself in to the Mexico Police Department on Oct. 8. He is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Jan. 6.
