DEAR SUN SPOTS: The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network would like to invite all girls and their dolls to an American Girl tea party on Nov. 13 at Dirigo High School in Dixfield. A donation of $5 per girl is requested.

State lead ambassador Diane Mitchell and Peggy Briggette will welcome the girls to the event at 1 p.m.

The theme is “A Caring Christmas.” A beautiful star ornament has been selected by the committee as the best gift to give. These sparkling stars can be hung from a window or set on a table to be enjoyed. We are seeking sponsorship of $20 per star to help cover the cost of this project.

The girls will make a Christmas card for a craft project and wrap a star ornament to be sent to the children at Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland during the holiday season.

A fashion show for the girls and their dolls, a holiday sing-along and refreshments are also planned. Thanks to the generosity of many area ladies, the girls will be able to choose a teacup to use and take home to treasure.

Mary Duchesne of Arundel donated an American Girl doll, Molly, and her Christmas dress to be raffled at the event.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I saw a request a while back about Lewiston High School needing computers. I have one that is working and would like to donate it, the printer and speakers. It is working well. I upgraded mine. Thank you. — No Name via e-mail

ANSWER: Sun Spots thinks you are talking about the Lewiston Regional Technical Center at Lewiston High School, where students fix up old computers and donate them to needy families at Longley Elementary School. You can read the original story on the endeavor at www.sunjournal.com/city/story/859557.

Teacher Crystal Morris said students can upgrade the computers if they run Windows 98 or a newer operating system. Morris said that anything older than a Windows 98 machine is really too old.

To contact Morris, call 795-4144, ext. 2334, or e-mail cmorris@lewistonpublicschools.org.
