#5-Messalonskee (5-3) at #4-Lewiston (6-2)

Eastern A quarterfinal

Friday, 7 p.m.

PTC’s leading rusher (Keenan Knox) will try to play keep-away from the McKinnon/Keene/Turcotte/Therrien quartet. Double wing can frustrate opponents, but the Devils don’t mind playing power football, themselves.

#7-Edward Little (5-3) at #2-Bangor (7-1)

Eastern A quarterfinal

Rams welcomed back TB Josiah Hartley, only to see QB Joe Seccareccia get hurt last week against Brewer. Not a good time to be banged up, either, with the confident Red Eddies coming to Cameron Stadium. EL owns four straight wins.

#6-Cony (4-4) at #3-Mt. Blue (6-2)

Eastern A quarterfinal

Friday, 7 p.m.

Stop Luke Duncklee, and you stop the Rams. Of course, that’s a little bit like saying create jobs and you fix the economy. Easiest way is to score more points, which the Cougars did in a previous 27-19 win over Cony.

#8-Morse (2-6) at #1-Leavitt (8-0)

Eastern B quarterfinal

Friday, 7 p.m.

Shipbuilders are to the Hornets what Dolphins are to the Patriots. No matter how many times in a row Leavitt wins in the series, Morse gets mentioned as a perennial thorn in its side. Um, probably not this year.

Cape Eliz. (6-2) at Mtn. Valley (8-0)

Western B regular season

Friday, 7 p.m.

Cape pinned the first shutout on MV in its 21-year history in this spot last year. Falcons nearly won the playoff rematch. Role reversal this year. Don’t be shocked to see the city kids play with that same throw-out-the-record-book urgency.

Poland (1-7) at Gray-NG (0-8)

Western B regular season

Friday, 7 p.m.

Give a call to the Knights, who have finished strongly and have proven that they can hang with most of the top teams in the league.

#6-Dirigo (5-3) at #3-Winthrop (6-2)

Western C quarterfinal

Friday, 7 p.m.

Cougars have a new look since their 40-8 loss to the Ramblers in September, with lineman Jake Dowland joining Spencer Ross in the backfield. Winthrop has lost two straight games in the final three minutes of regulation and needs a quicker start.

#7-Jay (5-3) at #2-Lisbon (7-1)

Western C quarterfinal

Saturday, 1 p.m.

Jay was two failed two-point conversions away from being 7-1 and in the mix for the No. 2 seed, so don’t count out the Tigers. When the Greyhounds win the turnover battle in the playoffs, the scoreboard usually follows.

#5-Oak Hill (4-4) at #4-Traip (6-2)

Western C quarterfinal

Saturday, 1 p.m.

Based on similar sweeps of common opponents (Livermore Falls and Maranacook), Raiders and Rangers appear evenly matched. Traip needs to stop Josh Allen. Oak Hill needs to not get down if there are any early mistakes.
