LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women, a drop in center, has announced its schedule of activities for November which includes two new exercise programs and other ongoing offerings that promote health and wellness.

A t’ai chi group will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5 and 19. T’ai chi is a series of flowing, slow, gentle movements that focus on using the whole body to move through weight shifts and torso rotations. The movements may be done by anyone regardless of physical condition or ability.

On Wednesday, Nov. 10, the center will offer a zumba class. Zumba is an exercise done to hypnotic Latin rhythms. Movements are easy-to-follow and adaptable to differing abilities. The class will be led by Elaine Pratte.

Two one-on-one opportunities will continue. “Inner Spirit” with Pam Beliveau will continue from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22. Beliveau will spend 15 to 20 minutes with individuals for spiritual direction. Also, Shanna Rogers from the Neighborhood Housing League will be at the center from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays, to consult with anyone about landlord and tenant issues.

Denise Dill from St. Mary’s Nutrition Center of Maine will teach her monthly class at the center on Wednesday, Nov. 17. The focus will be on eating well on a tight budget and will include a sampling of seasonal dishes. Participants will take home recipes.

Other regular programs include a painting class on Thursday mornings with Dot Treadwell; several craft activities, a scrapbooking group and card-making class; and various small groups that focus on building self esteem or stress reduction.

The center will be closed for Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11 and on the Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week. For a complete calendar of activities, see www.wisdomswomen.org.
