AUBURN — Rita Rose (Lebel) Bechard, 83, of Lewiston, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice with family by her side.

The daughter of Roseanne Moreau and Thomas Lebel, she was educated in Lewiston schools. She married Joseph Armand Bechard on March 4, 1945, and worked briefly at Bates Mill and Hillcrest, then was a stay-at-home mom. She liked to play cards, go for walks and do jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeannette Duchette and husband, Paul, of Lewiston, and Susan Bennett and husband, Gary, of New Gloucester; six grandchildren, Arlene Pride and Alison Hill of Lewiston, Doug Bronk of Sabattus, and Jessica Cartier, Monica Sackett and Darcy Cartier, all of New York; 18 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years; both parents; two brothers, Armand and Rene Lebel; and six sisters, Muriel Hall, Jacqueline Whitehouse, Pat Frappier, Lena Frappier, Gert Crowley and Cecile Brown.
