AUBURN — Robert Gaudreau of Falmouth, chair of the CM Education Foundation board of directors and president of Hardypond Construction of Portland, was honored recently by the Scarborough Economic Development Corporation.
He was presented with the Project of the Year Award for his work on Elevation Center, a 61,000 plus square foot medical office building located directly between the Scarborough connector and U.S. Route 1.
Built in 1973, the property has been totally rehabilitated, taking it from an industrial/warehouse building with limited parking to a modern medical/office building with abundant parking and easier access to Route 1. A section in the center of the building was removed allowing for windows to be installed on the building’s interior and an open-air courtyard was installed with outdoor seating.
Gaudreau earned a degree in architectural and civil engineering at Central Maine Community College in 1979. A long-time supporter of the college, he currently chairs the CM Foundation Board, a community-based, nonprofit corporation that has as its sole mission “support for CMCC and its students.”
The foundation has contributed over $700,000 to CMCC for scholarships, program improvements and capital projects. Over the years, more than 1,200 students with financial need have received scholarships from the foundation.
