OXFORD — A local man was injured Monday afternoon when his Jeep left Route 26, snapped off a utility pole and rolled over, Oxford police officer Reggie Littlefield said.

Scott Cummings, 46, of 367 Main St. was driving south by the New Balance store at about 2:40 p.m. when the late-model Jeep left the road, cut the pole in two and rolled, the officer said. Power lines were strewn across the highway and traffic was detoured for hours.

Cummings’ teenage daughter, Jaida, of the same address, was not hurt, Littlefield said. Both were wearing seat belts, he said.

Scott Cummings was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway with non-life-threatening injuries, he said. A nursing supervisor said Monday night that he was no longer in the emergency room and was not admitted as a patient.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, Littlefield said.

Central Maine Power Co. installed a new pole, restoring power to the area.
