BUCKFIELD — A group of young women who are students at Buckfield Junior-Senior High School will compete in a singing contest bright and early Monday morning at the Fox 23 studio in Portland.

Principal George Reuter said the students will perform on Channel 23 at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning.

They will leave the high school at 4:45 a.m. Monday morning and return later in the day.

They are among three school glee clubs in Maine, with Yarmouth and Camden being the other two, and two from New Hampshire, that will take part in the competition.

Online voting will take place to choose the winner of a cash prize beginning sometime Friday after all five schools have performed.

Besides performing for the Monday morning broadcast, the Buckfield girls will also take part in several promotional takes and be interviewed on the air.

An online address for voting will be printed later in the week.
