DEAR SUN SPOTS: The ladies of DKG, Mu chapter will host their annual Teddy Bear Fair at the Lewiston High School gym on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be homemade candies and baked breads, pies and cakes; canned garden goods, salsas and preserves; a variety of handmade crafts, all kinds of white elephant items, used books, CDs and DVDs; gently loved stuffed animals, baked beans with scones, biscuits and brown bread.

Holiday gifts, bake sale, door prizes, pick your raffle (37 from area businesses/restaurants/sport venues!), 50/50, lunch counter serving homemade soups and pies. DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Society of Mayflower Descendants in Maine, founded in 1901, will hold its 109th annual meeting, led by its governor, Lynde C. Randall, on Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Howard Johnson Plaza and Convention Center (formerly Verillo’s), 166 Riverside St., Portland.

The society’s annual business meeting will be held at 10 a.m., with the opening ceremonies and “Compact Day” luncheon at noon. Reservations by members must be received by Friday, Nov. 12, and may be sent to Virginia Link, 17 Mildred St., South Portland, ME 04106, 799-3952 (reservation questions only).

Cost of the luncheon is $20 each for turkey, haddock or beef. Checks may be made payable to the Maine Mayflower Society. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Our program will feature historical re-enactors, Mistress Mary and Master Adam Spencer from New Hampshire, “Dressing a Colonial Lady.” They have been featured in many newspapers and national magazines.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Saturday Nov. 20, the West Auburn Congregational Church will host its 11th annual harvest supper at the church vestry located adjacent to the church at 811 West Auburn Road in West Auburn. All are welcome to join at either seating (4:30 and 5:30 p.m.), but guests are urged to come early as there is limited seating.

Guests are also encouraged to bring nonperishable items for donation to the High Street Church Food Pantry. The evening’s dinner, featuring locally grown produce and fully prepared from scratch by members of the WACC, will be served buffet style and includes oven-roasted turkey and baked ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, squash, turnips, carrots and cabbage, rolls with butter, an assortment of holiday pies, coffee, tea, milk and punch.

The annual event is a fundraiser for the historic building’s ongoing maintenance and improvement. The West Auburn Congregational Church is one of the area’s oldest religious establishments, founded in 1793. Spiritual guidance is provided by the Rev. John Ellis.
