DEAR SUN SPOTS: Parents and teens can often feel like they are speaking different languages and not connecting in the way they would like.

Families in Action is offering free family workshops where parents and teens attend together to learn more about each other and how to get along better. The sessions teach skills and strategies to parents and teens in the areas of cooperation and communication, responsibility and discipline, courage and self-esteem, and much more.

This is a six-week workshop with sessions held once a week. Families in Action will begin in Auburn Middle School on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. and in Lewiston Middle School on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m. Free food will be available at both locations beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Interested families can call 795-2120 to register or send me an e-mail at gagnonsc@cmhc.org. Families in Action is a program of the Lewiston-Auburn Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative. — Scott M. Gagnon, Families in Action coordinator, gagnonsc@cmhc.org

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We have been helped in the past by Sun Spots and am hoping to have good luck again.

My husband is hearing impaired, and the only way he can hear the TV is by using a mini-amplifier speaker that we used to buy at Radio Shack. They no longer carry them, so I’m hoping maybe someone will have one they no longer need and will sell to me at a reasonable price.

My phone number is 353-9537; please leave a message.

Also want to mention for anyone who needs some help around their property, we have a nice man who helps us with things we no longer can do. His name is Dean Hinkley, and his phone number is 375-6163. Thanks for all the help you provide everyone. — No Name, Lisbon Falls

ANSWER: You didn’t specify the model number for the amplifier you seek, but Sun Spots searched Radio Shack’s website and found a mini-amplifier speaker (Model 277-1008) online at $14.99. The site says that it can ship to the store or your home.

If that’s the speaker you want and you don’t have access to a computer, you could ask them to order it for you at the store.
