AUBURN — The New Auburn Senior Citizens will have their annual Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings at noon Wednesday, Nov. 17. The cost for the dinner is normally $5, but each attendee will get $3 off paid for by Modern Woodmen.
There will be a guest speaker from Modern Woodmen at 11 a.m. and there will also be a memorial Mass for deceased members at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Church, prior to the Thanksgiving dinner.
The regular meeting was held Nov. 3 with Virginia Levasseur, president, presiding. October birthdays were noted and token gifts presented. Happy Birthday was also sung by members. The half and half drawing was won by Toni Arel. Pot of gold winners were Jean Guy, Doris Biron, Jeanne Theriault, Grace Sennett, Jeannette Sutton and Joline Bell.
New members were welcomed and include: the Rev. Donald Gagne, Olive Poisson, Gabriel Sirois, Marguerite Girouard, Doris Bourgoin, George Bourgoin, Laurie Lafond, Roger St. Pierre, Franceska St. Pierre, Jeanne Lacourse, Dan Ouellette, Joline Bell, Robert Bell, Gayle Vale and Lorraine Lemoges.
The meeting was adjourned and a light lunch was served prior to games of bingo. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, Dec. 1, with a light lunch paid for by the guest speaker from Modern Woodmen, with bingo to follow. There will be no meetings in January or February.
The Christmas party tickets will be on sale at the Thanksgiving dinner for $15 each person. The party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Carriage House, 1119 Lisbon St., Lewiston. A social hour will begin at 11 a.m. and the buffet will begin at noon. The buffet will consist of roast pork, haddock, mixed vegetables, red bliss potatoes, rice, cookies and brownies. Entertainment will be provided by Jose Duddy.
Members are reminded that prior to buying tickets to the Christmas party all dues must be paid. The last day to purchase the tickets is Nov. 17.
