WASHINGTON, D.C. — Bath Iron Works has been awarded an $8.5 million contract modification for additional work on the DDG-1000 destroyer, according to an announcement by Maine U.S. Sen. Susan Collins.
Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Services and Appropriations Committees, said the $8,494,937 award comes from the Naval Sea Systems Command. The modification, Collins’ office said, will provide for additional systems engineering services associated with the detail design and construction of the DDG-1000.
BIW is the lead yard contractor of the DDG-1000. The work will be performed in Bath, and is expected to be completed by September 2011.
