LEWISTON — This weekend, Scouts from Pack 007 and Troop 007 will be in the Lewiston area collecting food donations for the annual Scouting for Food Drive.

The food drive was started in 1988 to address one of the four pressing “National Unacceptable Situations” identified by the Boy Scouts of America – hunger.

The goal is to collect 100 cans for 100 years of scouting per boy in the organization. With the communities’ support, the groups will be able to donate a total of 4,000 items to Trinity Jubilee Center, Safe Voices (AWAP) and Hope Haven Gospel Mission.

Those interested in donating may leave their donation at the end of their driveway in a bag or box by 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, and the group will pick them up.

Scouts will also be stationed during the day at Donna’s Daycare, 977 Sabattus St., for those who would like to bring donations.
