Thanksgiving dinner
MEXICO — The First Baptist Church, located at 20 Roxbury Road, will host a free Thanksgiving dinner for the area River Valley residents from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24.
The meal will consist of turkey, gravy, stuffing, potato, peas, carrots, homemade dinner rolls, cranberry sauce and an assortment of homemade pies. Coffee and punch will also be served. For more information or to request transportation, call 562-7259.
Food baskets
RUMFORD — Volunteers from the Praise Assembly of God Church in Rumford Center will distribute more than 150 Thanksgiving food baskets on Saturday, Nov. 20. The baskets include everything that is needed to supply an entire Thanksgiving meal for a family.
Donations from the church as well as from businesses both from the local area and outside of it have made these baskets possible. Anyone with a last minute need may call the church at 364-3856.
Senior meeting
RUMFORD — The Rumford Senior Citizens will meet Monday, Nov. 22. The Board will meet at 10 a.m. and the regular member meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch at the Senior Center on Congress Street.
The Chistmas party will be on Friday, Dec. 10. The deadline to sign up for the party is Nov. 28.
Food donations
DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Town Office is accepting donations of food for the local food bank located at the Dixfield Common Baptist Church. Items or donations may be dropped off at the Town Office anytime throughout December.
The Town Office is also accepting donations of cat food, kitty litter, money, etc., for the annual Christmas kitty fundraiser to help Brenda Jarvis and Caddy Smith with their efforts to rescue and feed the stray cats and kittens in the Dixfield area. Free dinner
RUMFORD — Boy Scout Pack and Troop 580 along with local Girl Scouts, invite all veterans, elderly, mentally ill, handicapped, homeless and otherwise less fortunate to join them for a Thanksgiving dinner from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at the American Legion Post 24.
The local scouts will serve turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and all the fixings including dessert to anyone looking for a family-style Thanksgiving dinner.Takeouts will be available. For delivery or more information, call Bob McPherson at 357-6933. All are welcome.
