DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Families in Crisis Task Force is having a Chinese auction on Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Advent Christian Church on Route 26 in Oxford just past Walmart.

We will have lunch available with lots of good food. There will be more than 100 items raffled and the $1 table along with a 50/50.

All funds will go to the Families in Crisis Task Force to help with the holiday programs in Oxford County. We ask that you bring a gift for the children’s Christmas program or pay $1 admission.

We also have a thrift shop that benefits our food pantry. It’s open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s at 659 Park St. in South Paris on Route 26 just 3 miles north of Market Square.

We are always searching for donations and volunteers. For more information, please call me with any questions. — Peggy, 357-7072, familiesincrisistaske@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there anyone locally or nearby who fixes music boxes?

Is there a local charity looking for decent garage sale items for the coming year? I have salable and craft items I want to dispose of. Is there any organization looking for trophies? I have several to give away.

Many thanks for your tremendous service to our community. I may be reached at 782-6373. Thanks. — No Name via e-mail

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A new scholarship and awards program for Maine high school football players has been created in memory of Frank J. Gaziano, founder of National Distributors and a former college All American and professional football player with a lifelong passion for local sports.

The annual Frank J. Gaziano Memorial Offensive and Defensive Lineman Awards will be presented to players who epitomize the character, leadership, and perseverance of Gaziano. Recipients will be selected by an awards committee based on their strong leadership on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

Through the new program, one offensive player and one defensive player will each be awarded a first-place trophy and a scholarship of $2,500. Each recipient’s name will also be engraved on permanent plaques that will rotate each year among high schools with winning players.

In addition, two runners-up will be recognized in each category, with each of the four selected players receiving a commemorative plaque. All six players will be given a special Frank J. Gaziano Memorial Offensive and Defensive Lineman Awards leather jacket.
