GREENE — A memorial service was held on Thursday for Gilbert P. Wood at the Greene Baptist Church. Opening prayer, scripture reading John 14: 1-4, 6, and Psalm 23, and the eulogy was given by the Rev. Chester Garrison. The congregation sang one of Mr. Wood’s favorite hymns “Blessed Assurance.” His son, Mark sang “It Took a Miracle,” and spoke of his father. Members of the congregation spoke of how Gilbert touched their lives. Barbara Garrison sang “Thank You” and “Mansion Over The Hilltop.” The pianist was Gail McGray. Interment was in Valley Cemetery. Those in attendance were invited downstairs in the church for fellowship and refreshments after the service.
