There is an old poem (1821) titled “The Spider and the Fly.” The author is Mary Howitt.

In the course of the poem, the spider invites the fly to come into his pretty little parlor. The parlor is a picture of comfort and the pantry is stacked with sweets … supposedly.

The spider sweet-talks the fly into a visit. The fly enters the parlor but “never comes out again.”

Why does that sound like a casino?
