AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library will host a student film screening at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, in the Androscoggin Community Room at the library, 49 Spring St. The viewing is open to the public.

This fall, the students in Shawn Rice’s documentary studies film class at Edward Little High School have been creating four- to seven-minute films about people and subjects that inspire them. Students in the introductory class use very basic equipment, but the results of their early work has been imaginative and compelling.

The majority of the films shown will be short documentaries about a person who has inspired the film maker, while a few will be objective looks at a social or political issue of personal importance. All of the films required background research and make use of some combination of interviews, photographs, music and graphics.

After the screening, Rice and some of his students will be on hand to answer questions.

All are invited to attend the free program. Popcorn and punch will be served.
