FARMINGTON — The Old South Church sanctuary will host the a Christmas Carol Sing and Music Benefit at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12. A free will offering will be accepted at the door to help support the Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry Fuel Assistance Fund.
The FAEM Fuel Assistance Fund supplements the federal program and it helps fill the gaps for many other needy families.
Along with the sing-a-long of selected favorite Christmas carols, accompanied by Patricia Hayden, there will be special musical guests, including the Old South Church Youth Choir, under the direction of Amanda Hilton and accompanied by Jody Gunther; the Mt. Blue High School Syncopations, under the direction of Carol Shumway and accompanied by Patricia Hayden; the Franklin County Fiddlers, directed by Steve Muise; and the UMF self-directed a capella group, the Clef Notes.
A special piano and organ duet of Joel and Patricia Hayden will accompany the sing-a-long of “Adeste Fideles,” and the finale will be a group sing of Handel’s “Halleluiah” chorus from Messiah, led by Old South Senior Choir Director Dr. Bruce McInnes.
The FAEM raffle quilt tickets will be on sale before the program and during intermission. The winning ticket will be drawn in second half of the program.
Refreshments will be served during intermission for donation. There will be a FAEM all-church holiday bake sale featuring homemade goodies. For more information, call 778-0424.
