AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine Gov.-elect Paul LePage plans to announce the first of his Cabinet appointments.
The Republican’s transition team spokesman, Dan Demeritt, says LePage will announce his choices for commissioners of the Department of Public Safety as well as Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management.
The planned announcements come amid speculation about who will be appointed to top administration posts. Several news organizations are quoting unnamed sources as saying Bill Beardsley, one of LePage’s rivals for the GOP gubernatorial nomination earlier this year, is the governor-elect’s choice for Conservation Department commissioner.
Beardsley says it would be inappropriate to comment on such speculation, but says he’d be honored to serve on the LePage team.
